HyperCard@Paris 2002

The Apple Expo Paris 2002 has been a great success for HyperCard. We have talked to more then 600 people. One by one, we told them how great HyperCard is and why we believe that it should be carbonised for MacOS X. We have demonstrated really great projects and many people were really impressed. Sometimes, they could hardly believe that is was really HyperCard or were surprised that the stacks being demonstrated had been created by non-professionals. Many said they will have a look at the CD and quite a few have been inspired to start or resume creating stacks themselves, as they told the eHUG crew. HyperCard has been brought back to the minds of European Mac owners.

The eHUG co-ordinator has also contacted several people within Apple. It is not possible to reveal everything we discussed. I can tell you, though, it seems that many people do not immediately reject our wish --I hope that you understand why we can only make moderate statements. I can assure you, the HyperCard community did something really extraordinary and it will have an effect. It is not clear whether this will result in a HyperCard for MacOS X, but we have definitely made a step in the right direction.

Without the help of many, all this would not have been possible. I would like to thank Jean Auvigne, Frederico Basmadyian, Joost Bottema, Robert Brenstein, Guido Brunschwiler, Ron Burns, Steve Collins, Jean-Pierre Costa, Toby Earp, Walter J. Ferstl, Terry Fletcher, David Francis, Bruce Frumker, Friedrich F.
