This year, eHUG participated in the Apple User Group (AUG) booth. Representatives of eHUG answered questions of HyperCard programmers and demonstrated stacks and applications created by members of eHUG and the International HyperCard User Group (iHUG). Furthermore, a copy of HyperCard was raffled off in the AUG lottery. Even though eHUG didn't have its own big event this year, people were very well able to find the eHUG representatives at the AUG booth and every now and we had a chat with some HyperCard users. We talked about Apple not updating HyperCard and we gave information about eHUG and iHUG. The Expo was a great occasion for several eHUG members to meet each other. The eHUG representatives have met other AUG leaders and explained their mission to them. The HyperCard box, was raffled off on Saturday. Ms Desnos, who appeared to be very interested in HyperCard and was eager to try it, won the lottery. We brought eHUG membership registration forms with us and registered several new members. We also had order forms for iHUG products, and a preliminary version of the iHUG CD-Rom 2003. Also on Saturday, the eHUG coordinator talked to Mr Cazeneuve, the general director of Apple Europe. Like last year, he was asked to make HyperCard available in Europe. Mark explained to him that it is not fair that European HyperCard users have to pay 30 to 50 euro more than American users, if they want to buy the latest version of HyperCard. Mr Cazeneuve doesn't seem to have a problem with that and answered that Apple will not make any investments in HyperCard. So, not being able to buy HyperCard, a person from the United Kingdom came to eHUG for help. After seeing how to use HyperCard as a multimedia tool, she asked for help to buy a copy of HyperCard. Without the help of many people, this event would have been impossible. Therefore, we want to thank the following people: Jean Auvigne, Armin Butterer, Graham Dean, Dominique Delefortrie, Gwenael Le Drean, Walter Ferstl, Bernard Fertil, Charles Flickinger, Joan Giral, Edwin Haskell, Geoff Johnson-Brett, Kurt Keller, Ralf Könner, George Leering, Helge Malmgren, Massimo Moiso, Craig Newman, Mirko Nieminen, Judy Perry and Denis Rouyer. We also want to thank Alain Pougeoise for making possible the AUG booth. Those who made a financial contribution will soon receive their Quibble Archives Browser license and, if you contributed more than 40 euro, your iHUG CD-rom. | ||||||||||||||
